Support Indigenous Relationships, Conservation and Research
The Children of the Sky branded merchandise campaign is a creative fundraising and awareness initiative to support the work of the Children of the Sky Collective and the annual Children of the Sky Summit, an international gathering of people connected by and dedicated to honoring and protecting migratory birds and their traditional kinship with Indigenous people and local communities worldwide.
Children of the Sky Collective and the Children of the Sky Summit was born when Native Village of Paimiut Tribal Representatives traveled from Alaska to Aotearoa (New Zealand) for a cultural exchange around the world's longest, single flight migratory bird-the bar tailed godwit. With so many migratory birds nesting in the Ancestral lands of Alaska's Indigenous peoples, NVP wanted to be able to create a forum for our Indigenous relatives to connect and share the stories, teachings and cultural significance of birds to us. Migration is an amazing scientific feat, but it's not the whole story!
This campaign invites supporters, partners, and allies to wear their commitment to conservation, culture, and connection ? while directly funding programs that safeguard migratory birds, restore habitats, and elevate Indigenous voices across flyways.
? Purpose & Impact
Every purchase directly supports:
- The operations of the Children of the Sky Collective ? a network of Indigenous and allied scientists, artists, and grassroots organizations working together globally.
- Scholarships and travel assistance for Indigenous youth and Elders to attend the annual Children of the Sky Summit.
- On-the-ground conservation and cultural projects along the worlds flyways, from Alaska to Aotearoa to Africa.
The merchandise also serves as a conversation starter, spreading awareness about the sacred journeys of migratory birds and the communities who care for them. Look for a new release here quarterly.
